Day Two
Sang alhim to air to be
inside and part the primal seas.
Made alhim a
space for air
to part the seas below
from those above
the atmosphere.
And so it
came to be.
Called alhim to atmosphere
to elevate to stratosphere.
Diversity was unity
on the day of two.
Day Three
Sang alhim
to seas to pool
together in one place
and let a mass of land appear.
And so it
came to be.
Called alhim
to seas
to be the oceans
and to land to be the earth.
Looked all the gods
upon all this as good.
Sang alhim
to earth to sprout the sprouts
of green plants
seeding seeds
and fruit trees bearing fruit
which
reproduce themselves upon
the earth.
And so it
came to be.
The earth did sprout the sprouts
of green plants
seeding seeds
and fruit trees bearing fruit
to
reproduce themselves upon
the earth.
Looked all the gods
upon all this as good.
Diversity was unity
on the day of three.
Day Four
Sang alhim for there to be
bright lights up in the skies
to separate the day from night,
to mark the hours, days,
and years.
To brightly light the skies
and shine upon the earth.
And so it
came to be.
As one, all gods made
two great lights
the greater one to
flow the tides
the lesser one to flow at night
and guide the other stars.
All gods as one,
fixed those great lights
up in the skies to shine on earth
and have their way
in
day and night
and to divide the light from dark.
Looked all the gods
upon all this as good.
Diversity was unity
on the day of four.
Day Two
Airspace
The ancient scripture expresses an advanced understanding of the water cycle, including the concept that the atmosphere carries water vapor up and into the sky.
Came to be
King James’ Bible translates the phrase
oihi qn as ‘it was so”. This reinforces the image of a super-powered God ordering things to happen instantaneously and inexplicably upon the utterance of each phrase.
But, a more literal translation ‘became set upright’ or ‘came to be’ is also more consistent with a clear explanation of what happens in passages like this one. First, the powers-that-be sing out their collective plan, then the elements involved execute the actions to fulfill the plan. In this case, the atmosphere carries the clouds to the sky.
Day Three
Seeding seeds
In this passage, the earth sprouts sprouts then the plants seed seeds.
This kind of word play springs naturally from the Aramaic/Hebrew language where many verbs and noun forms differ only slightly.
Reproduce themselves
The word
mino can be translated to mean ‘species’ or ‘kind’, but can also mean ‘lineage’. Here, the plants are reproducing themselves on an ongoing basis.
Day Four
Flow the Tides
The word
imim does not only mean ‘day’ and ‘daytime’ it can also mean ‘oceans’ and ‘tides’.
The Greater and Lesser Lights
If you accept that the Sun came into play on the first day, as the source of the first light, then this verse will make a lot more sense. The ‘greater light’ would be the Moon – which controls the tides. And, of course, the ‘lesser light’ would be the North Star - which is the center point of the lights from the other stars.

A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge.
